Open letter about diesel emissions
Remember Dieselgate?
In 2015 car manufacturers were found to have installed illegal defeat devices that allow diesel cars to emit illegally high levels of pollution - this became “Dieselgate”.
10 years on, there are still millions of diesel cars on our roads emitting suspiciously high levels of air pollution.
Class action on diesel emissions
In October 2025 a class action on these vehicles is going to the Royal Courts of Justice. The details of the case have been deemed confidential due to the commercial interests of the defendants, the car manufacturers, but in March the court will consider if there is a public interest in disclosing the full information of the case.
Our open letter to the judge
Over 500 people and 40 organisations have signed our open letter to the judge, including MPs Ellie Chowns and Sian Berry and organisations such as Asthma and Lung UK, the UK Health Alliance on Climate Change, the Ella Roberta Foundation, Transport and Environment UK, Global Action Plan, Parents for Future Scotland, Mothers Rise Up, Car Free Norwich, the Birmingham Healthy Air Coalition, and many more.
We believe there should be full transparency about the vehicle emissions we are all breathing.
